Default Need some help with mounting my winch

Ok Dudes,

I need help mounting my winch and roller fairlead. I purchased them separately. I bought the costco winch and bought the roller fairlead from the manufacturer with a quick connect for that big ugly yellow controller. I can weld up a mounting bracket, but I'm unsure about the roller fairlead?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Buy a winch mount for your quad. You'll be money and headaches ahead.

Zuk's definitely right about the mount. It's alot easier to get the winch centered and square (2 very important things) with a prefab mount. Aren't there two bolt holes on the front of the winch to mount the fairlead? Look where the cable comes out of the winch. Those cheap winches may not have the mounting holes for the fairlead. Warn's are the only ones I've seen up close. Making up a mount for a fairlead may not be too difficult, you just have to make sure you reinforce it well.

No, the cheap ones don't have holes for the fairlead. I made a mount for my winch there's pictures in my bio page.

That's a nice looking piece, RD! But tell me, how much, in materials, do you have in that? And couldn't you weld a piece, for the fairlead, onto a mount kit?

Thanks I was fortunate enough to have the metal sitting around the house. So, it only cost me $4 for the paint I used 1/4x1' bar and 3/8 inch plate for the mount itself. It's mounted to the frame, using the same bolts, as the old bumper. The diamond plate was from when I built my double quad rack.

Yes, you could weld a piece of metal on the mount plate for the fairlead to attach to.
