Alright, I told my neighbor and he's all for it! We'll be having that lil contest tonight, in my backyard, in the grass, chained back to back!
We will see! I'll post the results tonight or friday night, maybe even some pictures if my brother gives me back my camera.
I'm excited and im affraid at the same time! lol

Well, I'd have liked to try that pull, but it's raining here since noon .... so it would do a major mess in my backyard if we try right now, maybe tomorow morning if the rain stops during the night ...
I'll keep you posted

I would think that the power of the new KQ would have no problem, BUT it really comes down to the tranny. I sure wished they offered the Hi-Lo-Super Lo combo on the big machines.......talk about tractors.

That could be a very interesting pulloff. If you were pulling a dead weight object I think the new KQ would easily beat the old KQ even if it was in superlow gear. If they are pulling against each other, I think about the only way you could find out is doing a pulloff.
The reason I think the new KQ would beat an old KQ in a dead weight pulloff, even with higher gearing, is because of the same principles of tractor-pulling would apply. If the 700 could get some tire spin going and gain some forward momentum then it would actually have more traction than the 300 in low gear lugging the deadweight.
If you watch pulling tractors, they purposly spin the tires instead of letting the tires hook up from the very beginning. I think its called "friction pulling."
Sorry if I made this overly complicated, but hey, I know what I mean...

alright guys, its 10 pm here, and we are both back in our garages, that pull test was a complete disaster. lol
We begin like this: we tie our quads together with a big chain, my vinson and his king 300. We then secure and double check for the chain attachement points on both ATVs. We start our ATVs and let them run at idle a bit, when engines are at optimum temperatures, we put our ATVS in 4x4, him in super low, me in low, both 4x4, him with front diff locked up (I cant, duh) and then we put the chain under tension going forward very slowly, my brother was giving the start signal so he positionned himself so both drivers could easily see him. We get ready and pull down our visors (yes for safety of the test we put our helmets on, safety first) THEN MY BROTHER DROPS THE RIGHT ARM SCREAMING GOOOO!!!!
The king jumpstarts (clutch play I presume) and has the advantage, (we decided the goal was to pull the other ATV for at least 20 feet to declare a winner). I'm all on the throttle of my vinson, spinning on 4 wheels all time.... the king pulls me for about 10 feet (both ATVS were moving really slowly, digging in the grass), then it comes to a dead spot and we both dig about 8 inches deep in the ground below our 4 wheels ... ROUND 1 : NO WINNER really ....
We move the ATVs about 10 feet to the left of our last pull line to have fresh, untouched grass, hehe. 2nd try! the signal comes and I (vinson) try a different starting method, like a powerstart on an automatic car, I give some throttle (read: near the third) but im holding the brakes, so as soon as the signal comes, I let the brake go and step on throttle. IT WORKS! Well, I thought it was it when I was approaching (slowly, really, took like 2 minutes, but it looked like it lasted 6 in my head) the 20 feet lane dragging the king 300 at a respectable speed. I was around 15 feet I think when it all slowed down and I started to go backward (wtf!?!?) I back off about 10 feet, then its another dead pull, we both burry the wheels there (man that is havoc for a backyard) ROUND 2 : NO MORE WINNER ...
3rd PULL exact same situation than the 2nd, I do my powerstart, but the king does his clutch play again and we both start on the wheelie! (that was funny) we both get surprised since the ATVs really leaned backward alot! when our front wheels touch the ground, we both step on the gas again. The king drags me for about 10 feet on his side then we hear a weird sound as the ATVS are spinning at full RPM. My brother runs to us doing big and repeated signs with his arms for us to stop, what we do 3 seconds later. The king has blown a tire (6 ply gator) his rear left .... ROUND 3: STILL NO PROOF
My conclusions: the rider is the main difference I think, we had comparable tires (he had bad luck of blowing one some people will say), my machine might be heavier a bit, mine is automatic.... But honestly, all test long, I felt that if we would have been on some more hard packed terrain, the king would have won on me, maybe not easily, but probably won anyway, its seems to be a pulling beast really!
thanks for reading my lil test, I hope this give some of you a lil idea, i dont have a king 700 so I cant compare but I did enjoy my own tug of war test !

A pretty good test to give insight to the original question. If a Vinson can make some headway as to dragging an older model KQ around but it looks like the KQ would ultimately win, then add the extra 200 cc on the new KQ and also a dif lock and the new KQ will drag the old wherever it wants.
I had a '94 KQ for several years and there is no machine that can touch it in the 300cc range for raw pulling power. However, as they say, "There's no replacement for displacement".
