Default Lt500 starting question

Hello,
My 500 runs awesome once you get it going I have a new air stryker on it, i did plug chops threw all throttle ranges and have it set where it runs excellent . Problem is it is hard to start cold but more when it gets hot. I put in new reeds a couple weeks ago. Still same thing
The compression if i recall was 120. You think a new piston would help with the starting issue ? re ring or new piston and rings?

Thx everyone!

Default Lt500 starting question

I am wondering if this is a new quad for you or have you had it awhile. It's real important you get it at the top of the stroke before you kick it over. I would call 120 lbs OK compression wise. I know with mine if I "prime" it a few kicks with the choke on and the switch off it will start easier cold but it always starts good warm. Maybe someone else here can be more help. I know it took me awhile to get on to starting mine at first and this forum helped me alot. good luck

120 is the stock compression number.the couple kicks of priming then top of stroke seems to be the best way for these beasts to start cold.mine always fired up pronto when its warm.maybe you need to practice warm starts with different throttle positions open,it may just be wanting a little more fuel to fire when its warm.

Thx for the Fast replies, i will try some more starting techniques. I was just curious on the compression cause when i talked to duncan racing when i ordered some parts a week ago , they told me the compression should be 160. I will try the priming technique.
