Banshee is the only thing close stock. But finding a stock banshee and even more finding a Quadzilla stock is hard to do. I'm pretty sure stock YFZ's and 450r's would have a hard time keeping one in sight.

The only thing that will hang with the Quadzilla is another Quadzilla. The banshee has no lowend and you are constantly shifting to stay in the powerband. The new sport quads are overpriced and will not keep up although they have better suspension. I purchased a 2005 YFZ450 and after a few months sold it and decided to keep my LT500 and just buy new shocks for it. I have never had any problems with my LT and ride with several friends who have YFZ's and 450R's and have no problem running with them.

Don't kid yourself, a stock banshee isn't even close! This debate has raged on for many many years. The new yfz is closer than a banshee.
Transmission and clutches are weak? That's a new one. The clutch pack is comparable to what's used in the GM 3 speed automatic (Commonly known as the turbo 350).. I'd recommend some stiffer springs if your making big HP, but there's nothing wrong with the bottom end.

Nothing's really comparable. If you could cross the power of a DS650 with the weight of a Banshee, you'd be close but still not quite there. A yfz will accelerate off the line close to a stock zilla (it may even have an edge in extremely low traction situations), a Banshee is right there with it when it's in its narrow power band, and a DS 650 has the grunt of a zilla at lower RPM's. Uncork the zilla and there's not much of anything that will touch it except crotch rocket powered quads.
As far as the 250R's and LT250R's, they won't hang with the zilla in drag races or top speed. Off the line it's close but the zilla still wins. Once they get up to speed, the difference is even more noticeable. My '87 LT250R (fastest year) is ported, piped, and jetted and is pretty fast for a 250, definitely faster than stock. My 100% stock '88 zilla (not even as fast as '87 zillas) will edge it everytime off the line and destroy it at higher speeds. My 250 in 6th gear is pulling pretty hard once I top it out in the low 70's. The zilla in 5th gear tops out closer to 80, and honestly it's playing at that speed. It feels like it could pull 2 more gears if it had them.
