hello everyone, i just bought a i believe a 1986 suzuki quadracer 250.i have a ?.its a 2 stroke n manual clutch.

here is my ?.ok when u have the quad in neutral(not running,to load in trailer, etc),u must engage the clutch lever to move it???does this sound right or is there a internal tranny problem???the lady i got it from son said ,it was normal cuz it was a racing quad????i asked around n everyone said this doesnt sound rite n i ahd dirtbikes b4 n i never remeber it being like this????please give me some insire!

also when her son bought it,he used it n when he put the next tankful of gas ,he started having problems,it would smoke bad n it has a hardtime startn.i have yet to get it running but i took her work on it being a close good friend n plus i got a good deal on it. i have to tinker with it.

The quadracers have a shift pattern like motorcycles. Neutral is not all the way down, it's between 1st and 2nd. Shift all the way down, then barely pull up to get it into neutral. When your shifting normally, it will shift from 1st to 2nd, but when you barely pull up in 1st, you should find neutral.

Hope this helps.

No. Once it's in neutral, it should roll just fine just like the dirtbikes.

the quad should roll when its in neutral. there is probably something wrong with your clutch. does it run in all of the gears?

YEA, IF S0METHINGS WR0NG WITH IT, I W0ULD FIX IT MYSELF...UNLESS ITS REAL BIG AD REQUIRES SPLITTING THE CASE. I DID ALL MY ENGINE W0RK 0N MY LT250R AND THAT WAS THE FIRST TIMEI 0PENED AND ENGINE AND W0RKED 0N IT. F0LL0WIG THE MANUAL AND S0ME C0MM0N KN0WLEDGE, IT WAS EASY....BUT IF Y0U HAVE THE THING REBUILT, DEPENDIG WH0 D0ES IT SH0ULD RUN AR0UND $500. BUT IF Y0U WNAT IT D0NE RIGHT AND G00D Y0U SH0ULD SED IT T0 TRINITY 0R DUNCAN 0R S0ME0NE...

slbt500r-since u have 1 too,u would be familar with it????to get the bike to move without startn it,u have to have have it in neutral n then hold in the clutch and then u can move it?if u dont hold in the clutch u cant move it.does this sound rite.

i never got it to run, gonna try to tinker with it saturday.too busy workn and all. the lady i got it from, her son bought it from his friend the kid was hard up for money. he used it once, when he added the next tank of gas inot it,he ran into probs,it is hard startn she said n if u do get it to run it smokes bad n stalls,so i am thinking he mixed the oil n gas wrong n ate threw the rings.

overall the bike is in very good condtion, the frame is good with no cracks or welds(suzukis were prone to this prob) engine is clean, carb is clean, platsics are aftermarket but r faded but solid.seat is ripped, lol, who ever had along tis line took care of it.etc also is there supposed to have a headlight???

also is this supposed to be forward kick or backwards kick(like a dirtbike) to start it?????i thought all quads were fwd kick only????also there is anything i should look out 4?thanks
