Sounds nice, but I forsee a very expensive quad and a very very small market for it. How many actually race MX? At nearly 50" wide no one who is a rec or woods racer would want it. There are many more who ride in the woods then on the track. Is this smart for Suzuki??

trust me kickstart onlyxc racers add 1+ wider arms then use a 4-1 offset wheel to keep it close to stock width as much as they can.some xc racers run 46- 48 width.the legal trial width is 48inches but that could change.but suzuki has the z400 for trail riding and once the z450 is released that open a whole range of diferent buyers that don't want to spend money to make it race ready.the ltz450r is race ready ,everyone is going to be surprised .and maybe later on they will make a xc version z450 .the rumor i heard on the kaw is its going to be a efi 500 quad.but won't be out till the 2007 model year.

The new dirt wheels says kawi will release in oct a new 450 racer, with aluminum frame parts that is a completely different design than suzuki' new 450. It also said bombardier will release a new racer this fall as well. Looks like the pro production class will get crowded. Other than z400[suz], and prarie[kaw], what other quads did kawi/suzuki share???

I would be really surprised to see a machine like that come out from a big manufacturer like Suzuki. It sounds like it has electric start judging by the description of the battery location. There should be no need for a battery if it is only kickstart. But if they put some of the vitals down low such as the battery, exhaust, fuel tank, etc. that will be asking for trouble with people that go through deep water and mud. A machine like that would have such a small target audience they'd be further off making it more trail friendly. Like an upgraded Z400. But who knows what we'll really see come out. rooster

Yeah, I agree that they should make it more trail friendly and then whoever buy's it can add some upgrades. With all these race add ons I would think would make this quad pretty expensive. They especially have to keep the price in check with Honda and Yami since Yami just redid they're 450 pretty much with fuel injection (those bastards-lol) and other add ons. Suzuki should just put killer suspension on it then the rider can add their own pipes,a-arms, etc..

Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the battery for the headlights and taillight? Same thing with the 450R and commonman, the YFZ is definitely not fuel-injected.

It's very smart for Suzuki to market the 450 towards the expert racer. It's not going to be made for the woods rider, that's why they have the z400. It would make no sense for Suzuki to make the two models overlap in any way.

The z400 will continue to be the sport quad for choice for the woods rider or the guy who is just going to race for fun a couple or a few times a year.

The z450 is being made to put some yellow bikes up in front of the YFZs. If you are an "A-class" racer you are going to want something as close to race-ready as possible. If all that is true the z450 will be the new king in town for the racers.

Every manufacturer has a lower-tier performance sport machine. Yamaha has the Raptor350, Honda has the 400ex, and now Suzuki will have the z400 in that class. Perhaps Kawasaki will have a Mojave 400 or something eventually too to go along with their own (non Suzuki) KFX450.

well if it is electronic fuel injected wouldn't it need the battery even if it is kick start only?
