Default 04 auto vinson won't move

I have an 04 Vinson 500 automatic. I was out riding it the other day and it stopped moving. When I put it in either high, low, or reverse i heard a clicking sound like it was trying to drop into gear but it never drops into gear and it won't move. Now it is not clicking anymore but it still won't move. Its like its in neutral or park even when its in high, low, or drive. Any idea what this may be?? It has about 1100 miles on it. I have driven it pretty hard but no harder than its meant to be driven. What do you guys think???

Have you checked the linkage from the shift lever? On a lot of CVT type quads, if the rods or linkages come loose or get too sloppy, it won't move it far enough to engage the trans selector for fwd and rev, it could be yours just worked loose.

Yeah, I took a look at it. It seems to be ok as I unhooked it and moved the lever myself into all positions and still nothing. I have heard that the autos work with a belt that slips so I am wondering if the belt broke or something. Any other ideas??

I assumed you had checked the belt already, have you taken the belt cover off and checked to see what is happening when you rev it up?if the belt is ok (if you smoked it, you'd smell it, or if it is broke, well, that should be obvious) you should see the clutches spin and engage, if the primary and secondary are working fine, then you have to look into the transmission, the secondary drives the gears that move the output shaft and drive the axles, let me know what you find.

Exactly what do I take apart to check it out?? I have never really messed with it much besides changing the oil and spark plug. Anybody got some pics or diagrams of what I take apart??

That big cover on the passenger side is where the belt is. I would bet it is the belt if its not the linkage.

Here is a microfiche diagram. Its easy to do if you run into trouble let me know. I just bought a Vinson that was rode hard I will change the belt soon.

Ridding hard what you think is hard is not bad at all. We hold our Motorcross bikes redline the whole race. How hard can you ride an auto

Oh yeah when you switch gears the cable by your left ankle you should see it move and hear it.
