Where would be the best place to buy the hotcams, Drz base gasket and valve springs? Also have either of you ridden in the sand much with your z? Thanx again for the replies.
Woodwardspecialties.com has both cams for $240. I got the springs and DRZe base gasket from the local dealer. Springs were ~$10 each.

I go to the silver lake sand dunes about once a month, why do you ask?

Thanx again for the info.

Since I ride at the dunes most of the time I figured I'd ask how you liked the z performance in the sand. I should have been a bit more specific with my question.

If you rented it there is a good chance it was beat. An even better chance they turned the throttle limiter screw in so it wouldn't get beat as much!! Bring your leatherman next time. I just got my z (06) 3 days ago and I like it a LOT better than my lt. But you also ride dunes, I ride trails in New England and 2 strokes kinda suck for the trails I ride. Much better suspension on the z and much better torque. Top speed is much lower. For the trails definetely get the z. For the dunes I don't know. I know my lt is pretty fun in a pit, but I'm still gonna get rid of it and put the money into the z.

Yeah I'm going to go down front up rear and put 22s on iy. Just need to calculate the ratio to keep it close to stock but a little lower.

Good to see this thread has been brought back to life

Thanks for the reply sparky. It's nice to know that your happy with the z since our LTs our pretty close to the same machine. As far as the spockets go, I know that alba racing recommends a 13/41 for the z. I am running a 11/44 on my LT and love the low end!! I had to replace my rear sprocket awhile ago and rode with the stock one for awhile and I couldn't believe the difference.

Some guys around here have the new raptor 700 and from their reports it's pretty impressive. Still tempting me a bit, but 7K is a lot to spend for a stock quad when I never plan on racing and don't care if I have the fastest quad. The EFI would be nice since I ride in different altitudes, oh well.

Sandro-

The z450 should be released next month (oct.) sometime. From all that I've read it should be one sweet race quad. Just type in z450 in the search part of the forums and you'll have more info/speculation/rumors/questions than you could ever want

ive seen the new 700's , look good and sound good. i would hate to buy the first year( 660 rapt-01-trans). that all companies not just yam. the z's had the weak frame. i'd let them get the bugs out(700and 450).
