Hard to shift gears on a z250??

yeah, it's definitely a great little quad. I have enjoyed since I got it. I noticed other people are eyeing my quad under the garage. I assume they think it's great too. Hopefully, not too great and steal it. Yikes!!!

I stripped my driveshaft splines out, but I rode the bike HARD for about 2 years and didn't really do much maintenence, I shifted hard, jumped high, rode sand, ect. They're fun bikes though I liked mine

Interersting. Now, does this happen to most of the z250's or did I just happened to get the troublemaker version? You pointed out that this only happens when you wear shoes. Again interesting, I will try putting on my motocross boots and see how well it will work for me. By the way, any suggestions about the reverse gear not engaging sometime?

when i had my z250 i had no troubles ever shifting it but getting it in neutral i found that moving it forward or back a little bit solved the problem. but i had to get rid of the quad because it didnt have enough power

I'm not familiar with the Z250, I have a Z400 and a 250EX. I had the same problem with our 250EX when it was new. The Honda manual has a simple procedure for adjusting the clutch. There is a locknut and screw on the front side of the motor. It's probably on the side of the Z250. Check the owner's manual...it was simple to do. You may also need to put a little pressure on the shifter as you let off the gas. This make the shifting smoother on our 250EX.
