King quad lowing blue smoke

Just an FYI. I spoke with our dealer about this problem. Says that Suzuki is not formally admitting there is a flaw in the air filteration design but they are repairing machines that have a problem if you complain loud enough. We had a machine that was on it's third trip, had the air filter changed and still problems occurred. One dealership told Suzuki the machine was submerged in mud in their opinion, went to another dealership who disagreed, had a Suzuki service rep there and he said nothing indicated it was ever submerged, which it had not been. We were told a 3 month old machine needed in excess of $1000.00 of repairs. We have been fighting with Suzuki and dealership said he gets 3 machines a week with this problem. The bottom line is if you have a problem keep complaining to dealership and Suzuki. Our dealership thinks Suzuki is going to start having to fix this problem. We've had a Yamamha Blaster and a Honda Foreman prior to this machine. Will never buy Suzuki again!

Get all the documents you can and share them. I am the one who wrote the online petition earlier in the year for Suzuki to come up with a solution for the Reverse Gear problem. I may need to do the same for this issue.

You know I have been totally happy with my KQ 700 that I purchased in April to the tune of about 1800 miles. Then the blue smoke 9 days before the warrenty expired. The bike has been in the dealer shop for over a month waiting for parts. New head, piston, rings etc. This was caused by dust getting through the air filter. I am getting bike back tomorrow. Suzuki will not admit to the dealer that there is a problem. On Sept. 30th I purchased another new KQ 700 just like my other one. I put 200 miles on it, and guess what more dirt on the butterfly valve below the air filter. Oh I should mention that I purchased extended warrenties from Suzuki. The Suzuki rep. did mention an aftermarket air filter to the dealer - not!
We owners need to keep the pressure on Suzuki to get an acceptable filter on these machines now, for FREE with NO secret warrenty.
Would love to hear other owners experience with this problem. Copies to your state consumer affairs offices may be in order.

I looked at a friends KQ this weekend with the factory air filter. It had dirt in the intake and on the butterfly. No blue smoke yet at 700 kms. I am picking up mine this weekend and will have to check it as well. Sounds like a problem to me.

Yeah, this is a big problem, it's becoming the most costly problem so far for the King Quad, and smokeman, you better get a $20 Uni filter before you do any serious riding just to be safe. I'm lucky that I live in Michigan where there's not a lot of dust, I've checked my intake and valve and there isn't a speck of dirt on it at least not that I can see, but just to be safe I'll be getting an aftermarket filter.

If I buy a KQ, I will have one on order before I even head to the dealer to pick it up...I wouldn't want to take any chances either.
Smokeman, very interesting quad deck for you 2 large utes to sit up on your truck bed w/o needing a trailer and still having plenty of storage below! Did you make that? Is it a tad frightening driving up that high on those ramps or is it quite stable?
