I ride the Vinson weekly. I started it and it started backfiring and would not rev up. I let it idle for about 5 minutes and everything seemed okay. Went out for a short ride in the woods and started and stopped about 5 times (with re-starts) with no problems. About 150 feet from the trailer it just died. Would not re-start. About a half hour later I gave it one more try and it started but was not running smooth.

Now the typical.... I brought it to the dealer and it started up and purred like a kitten as I unloaded it from the trailer.

Any thoughts? Garbage in the fuel system? Fouled plug? Just curious but the dealer will be going through it.

sounds like a little water or trash in the carb. i would just remove the carb and take the bowl off and spray all the jets and bowl out good with carb cleaner and it should be fine. if you bought some bad gas somewhere you might have to drain your tank. good luck.

 

I concur, it sounds like a plugged get in the carb. I added an inline fuel filter to my Vinson after the carb jet got plugged twice in a day from something that got through the lousy little fuel screen.
