King Quad Top Speed
#2
Put the stock tires/rims back on and try again. Sure the larger diameter should increase the speed but if the King can't turn them you will suffer.
We'll forgo the discussion of whether or not you should be running WFO at 9 miles or not and the importance of top speed.

The owners manual version of break in was originally written when engines were made by hand, and hasn't changed with the times. If you don't get on it some in the first 20 miles you run the risk of your rings never seating properly and an early ring job.
The cross hatching today is much finer than it used to be and wears smooth very fast, if you don't put some pressure on those rings early your engine will not last as long.

My gps registers far less than the speedo. Speedo at 65 and gps at 58 with stock tires. I really don't care because the majority of my riding 99.9% is on the trail. Top speed is not a good point to measure a utility quad.
Larger tires will change your speedo and slow down the low end. I imagine it will amplify the low end lag.

Larger tires and rims will throw off any speedometer (cars, trucks, ATV etc.). So your reading isn't going to be accurate. I have 26" Mud Lites on mine. My top speed shows 62. A GPS would reveal what it really is ---but--- Whatever my real speed is (when it shows 62), is as fast as I want to go!! --- It felt very fast!!

We have just changed a major component in the break-in philosophy. How does this spray coating cylinder respond to the high combustion pressure ring seating theory? Who has tried it on a King Quad?
There are already reports of accellerated cylinder interface wear in 700 King Quads believed to be a result of a poor air cleaner passing dust... is the spray cylinder liner maybe more delicate than the old iron liners that have worked well for years? Too delicate to tolerate the hard break-in?
