SPARK PLUG?????????????????? WTF???????

Eigerboy, looks like you get the star on that one.

I put 2100 miles on my first one. Yer next one should last a lot longer. I havent heard of any plug problems on Eigers. Theres a reason that one took a dive. Keep us posted.

I took it out twice and looked at it... when it first started running like crap and then after I put the carb back on and decided to take it to the dealership. They said the electrode was nearly burned away.... sure as hell wasn't like that when I dropped it off. Makes me think there was something else wrong and while they working on it, they did something that both fixed the issue but burned up the plug.

We'll see how long it runs when i get it back. Thanks again for all your ideas everyone.

I picked it up today. Comparing the old plug to the new one, it wasn't pitted away like he made it sound on the phone but the electrode was definately further down in the porcelin than a new plug. Fired it up and it acted almost the same way till it had about 5 minutes of warm up time. Then it seemed to run almost normal. He said it seems a little too lean right now. I told him it had a 115 in it and he said it might be better to put the stock jet back in during the winter because the air is colder/denser so it's gonna fun worse. It ran fine back in March in 20-30 degree weather up in the hills (7-10K feet) so I think i'll leave it alone for now. I just need to pick up a few spare plugs.

You really should get a 128 or 135 jet to play with. They cost about $3 each and you might be surprised at what happens... also, richer is generally better for runability. Less cold blooded, smoother idle, and maybe lower engine temps (depends on who you ask). Your fuel economy might suffer by a percent or two, but nothing I've noticed, and you won't be at the absolute peak of power, but the benefits might outweigh your small losses. At the very least you can say you tried it and you can rule it out as a cause, for very little coin.

What altitude do you ride at? I'm at about 5200 ft at home and ride up to about 10.5K.

The solution to your problem is one the Dealer will have to solve unless you are good at ATV repair... Or have a Service Guide... But its like this... Your Valves are too tight they tighten up during the break in period... i had the Exact same Problem with my Eiger 4X4 and that was the solution... I just means you have to take it in for the first service... Mine hit 362 miles and started up... it hit all the sudden while i was riding... i would hit the gas and it would spit spudder and back fire... I had to limp it to the truck and load it up to take it home... after a while it ran fine but as soon as i ran it for a while it acted up again... then it would do it all the time... so i adjusted the valves and whalla... She runs like a pro... and better i feel

I hope this solves you prob.

Thanks for the reply. I checked/adjusted the valves at about 100 miles. The intake side was within spec while the exhaust was a little loose so I adjusted them.
