Default Carberatour Problems

Ok, my KFX is at my mechanic and the problem with my KFX was that when i gave it throttle it died and when it idled it was fine. He just called and said that there was water in my bowl and that it froze overnight and bent my float (something like that). Now he is talking about getting a new carb..
Is my carb shot? Is this a problem that can b fixed without getting a new carb? thx.

ask him why he wants to replace the entire carb instead of just the float. You are talking about 250 dollars plus for a carb and 10 dollars for the float.

I find it hard to believe that the float was so full of water, and it totally froze and wrecked the float. I suppose it could happen, but i never heard of it.

The carb really should be good, unless the casting itself got cracked from the freezing.

Sounds like your original problem could have been water in the float bowl, or crud blocking the main jet. Ask him for more specifics on why the whole carb has to go.

So whats up with this ? Are you the guy that said in another posts that you misunderstood the mechanic and he replaced the float and not the carb ?
