Default Tearing Down the LT250S

Hey guys I am tearing down my 1989 Suzuki LT250s because I am starting to get pissed off with it just sitting in the shop. I need a new topend I've been looking all over the net and can't seem find a piston for it, rockymountainATV and they only got pistons for the LT230s do you think that would fit in my bike? I don't want to mess anything up or waste my money on somthing that won't work, any help would be great and if I can get any info on rebuilding and what I should do first and how much this is going to cost would be awesome.

Thanks alot

I havent checked into this at all but I am assuming that you mean Suzuki doesnt have a replacement pistion for our quad. If this is so, measure your piston and bore and see if you actually need to go oversize.

If so, and no one makes a piston for our bike check Wisecos, JE Pistons etc. catalog and look for replacement pistons from older 1000cc two valve engines such as the Z1, GS1000S etc. and look for a similar bore size. Once you have done that look at Wrist Pin diameters and find one that matches, then you have to see if the deck heights (CL of Wrist Pin to top edge of the piston) of the pistons will work.

If all you find is a similar bore ask if they can custom drill the wrist pin location and size. They will probably do it for a fee.

There is at leat one overbore piston from suzuki for the 89 lt250. Bike bandit has a 68.5 mm piston and a over bore 1 ring set.
Hope this helps.
Copy and paste this link. If it does not work go to the bikebandit.com website and go to oem parts.

Oh, I forgot..... The piston pin on the 250 is larger than the 230.
When I was building my 230 this is some of the same reserch I got into.
While your in the motor check the rod for any wear and go ahead and replace the valve stem seals also.

Good luck on the 250S.
