Hey 270... you are the 1000th reply, lol. 13-39 with 22" tires is a pretty tall gear. I thought about going to a 13 with my 22's and 39. I have a 12 now. Does the 13 fit on there with the case protector? My chain comes close to rubbing just with a 12.

I never rode a zilla, but I did the 250 version and it was pretty fast. I can imagine the 500.

While were on about all the gears, does anyone know the gear ratios for the 230 and/or the 250? You know,,, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th ratios?

gear ratios are low low low low low...lol i made my own case protector outa stainless steel since one of the bolts that hold stator is sheared from p.o. blowing off the chain! since ive been using o ring chain my chain has never thrown even when swingarm bearings and axle bearings were wasted. so to be honest im unsure on factory case saver. 13-39 compared to 13 41 is like having a sixth gear motor dont free rev nearly as much and can carry a desent speed. i do some road riding and my current set up is impractical for it. always shift shift shift

Does anyone know the actually number for the gear ratios though? Is it in the manual (obviously I don't have one yet, lol)? Basically, I wanted to know if 5th was a 1:1 or an overdrive gear. ANd I was curious if 1st was higher or lower than 3:1

How do you guys adjust your chain? yagerzzz had a nice reply about the middle of the page here: http://forums.atvconnection.co...015&messageid=1957108

If you read on down cyanidetrece has some pics of a chain tensioner. What yagerzzz said made a lot of sense to me. I think my chain is way too tight now after reading his post.

my manual has nothing on gear ratios. as far as chain goes i run mine looser than probably anyone else does at bout 2"play never had a issue learned from over tightning chain wears swingarm bearings and the tube that the bearings go into gets oval shape which then no matter what u have loose bearings and play in rear end. i can check out the case saver issue tomorrow on my spare motor it has all the covers and that u shape protector and i have a 13 tooth to throw on it.....id assume it would werk

Been trying to replicate that chain tensioner for a while, but I keep getting distracted with other stuff..... i think it would solve a lot our swingarm problems.

Anyone have a trick for removing old gasket material off the case sides? There are places where I can't even scrape off with a utility knife! I am afraid I will gouge the surface if I scrape to hard.

A bench grinder with a wire wheel works pretty well. Or a dremel with a wire brush. I usually can get everything with a razor though.
