85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.
Well maybe not a 230. i have an ltz400 and a 450r coming. gotta love police auctions!!! picked them up for a grand and i already may selll both to get the one i want. i had a polaris predator 500 but i liked my reverse on the QS. i rode the predator for a week up until the surgery then sold it for a scant profit of $300. but i will own another zuk just not sure what i want. i know one thing for sure, it will have a title. no more BS for the BMV about how to get a title for a 20+ year quad. it is a pain to get one made for a 86' QS.
good to see this thread still exploding with new people! i fired up the lt today after sitting for a little over a month and wouldnt you know, she started on the first kick. im looking forward to some snow this winter. cant wait to get out there and make a mess of things!
trailrider, good to hear youre healing up. best of luck on a new project!

i hate to tell you this. but you may have to pull the entire engine back apart. assemble it from the right side engine half. some how the shifting drum spun out of spec. you have to visually watch it shift while the engine is apart, while spinning the output shaft to make sure each gear engages correctly. and be sure to use Lucas oil stabilizer or assembly lube on the shifting forks and drum and the trans gears and crank bearings and cylinder and all thrust washers. and if you put the engine together dry and didnt prime the oiling system before the first start of the engine, you may have well damaged the internal parts: bearings , thrust washers, bushings, and the crank bearings as well as the rod bearing.
thats if you split the cases !!? ^^^
if you didnt split the cases well it will still be in the trans. i have alot of info that will be in The Vault on engine building tips that the manual doesnt say. After all i have built and tested 150, lt230s engines in the last year and a half and i am certified to wrok on them.
