A buddy bought a bike with a fresh rebuild and no chain. Gets it home and will only go into first gear. Take the case apart to find the spring on that little arm with the roller on it was off and the shifter drum wasn't in the correct position. After re assymbling it and test shifting thru the gears before we put it back together thats all it was. Somethign simple but a good amount of time it took to redue someone elses mistake.

Hope that is all it is for you. If you end up splitting it again make sure to test shift the gears buy moving the shifter drum and turning the out put gear while you shift. The little arm with the roller on the end needs to hit all the notches on the end of the drum correctly or it won't work right.

I also forgot to put in the timing Cain guide when I bolted the head on. After in bolting the head and lifting it I noticed something on the cylinder. My daughter put cat food in the spark plug hole. Had the piston been a top dead. I would not have noticed.

Yea just looking to get something a little bigger, newer, and 4x4. It needs new bearings in the rear axle, and could use a chain. It also has a small oil leak from some case damage from a broken chain (previous owner). Plastics, seat, and tires are all good, and it runs pretty well. I still get it out and ride it a bit every once in a while to keep it fresh, and it starts pretty easily, i just make sure to keep grease in the rear carrier since the bearings are worn and i havent replaced them yet. I'm a little big for it at 6'3", there definately isnt room for the wife to go riding with me.

there are pics in my album if interested

is anyone doing a full engine build this winter? i need pics for the Vault, for the new engine building article.

it seems like there are alot of newbies trying to build engines and running into shifting problems. so with that in mind, i am starting a rough draft for a full engine rebuild guide, with pics, in color. i had a step by step guide all put together to email to new engine builders but it is gone with my old computer which fried a month ago.
