P.S. Randy- i checked with Arias for my high compression piston, and they didn't have anything. to custom make one, they have to make 8, and want $800 for it! so i'll just put a regular compression wiseco in it
Well that sounds like a good deal at $100 a piston. You can sell them for $150 each. Where else can you get 50% return on your investment?

I've never seen any paint stick to plastic. If I had it to do again I would go cheap, put it on thin, and touch up often.

I never have. It looks nice... and expensive. I'd like to smack it with a stick a few times and see if it stays on lol

You'd think if there was a good way to do it, they would be doing it to cars, but I still see paint flaking off car bumpers after any minor accident. I know everytime I ride its the equivalent to a minor accident on my plastics lol!

Has anyone noticed an improvement in the life of the bearings by putting a grease fitting into the swingarm?

Another question, I searched for an answer here on the forum but I could not find one. Do you think I can split the cases without the puller mentioned in the manual or is some type of puller generally required?

answered my own question, got the cases split with a little patience and a lot of heavy rubber mallet.

Hey guys,

I've been reading through this forum for quite some time, finally made an account! Been working on getting my '86 lt230s running, so far I've changed the swingarm bearings, front right wheel bearing, adjusted the chain, cleaned the carb, built a chain guard, replaced the stator cover, threw on a new throttle cable, and I've got a new swingarm skid plate to install, after I tap the bolt holes (last owner must've ripped the guard off, bolts stuck in there...)

After reading on here that a blaster shifter would fit on the 230 I picked one up off ebay for $10.... but it doesnt fit! Looks like it has more splines than the original. Is there a certain year that does fit??

Also, I threw some oil in it the other day to see if I could get it started, but I noticed it was leaking near the drain plug. So, like a fool, I cranked the plug nut, and of course, stripped it. Now, I figure I'll just buy a tap kit and put some new steel threads in there, since I have to tap out the swingarm bolts for the skid plate anyways, but what do you think was causing it to leak oil in the first place?? It was a fairly slow leak from what I could tell, and the drain plug was already on tight (so why did I have to go and crank it! *smacks head*). Could it be that the o-ring is bad? I haven't had a chance to look at it closely yet, but any ideas to look for would be great! I don't remember it leaking the last time I had it running... but it has been sitting for close to two years since then, so...

Ok, long enough post for my first one I think! Thanks for any help,

Alex

Yup, my bolts are stuck in there too lol. And that's after a 3/16 beefy steel guard was ripped off.

Don't know anything about the blaster shifter. The original shifter is best.

Odds are its leaking because the chain came off and cracked the mag cover. If its leaking for any other reason, I'd be really shocked.
