Yep, you were right. I banged my head on the wall for a while to punish myself for costing time and money, but I am over it now.

I forgot you said you were using beer to aid in assembly or I might have suspected this before lol

What is the point of locking myself in a shed with a 1985 model ATV to escape my GF...err wait, I mean to get out of the house...no no no, I mean to rebuild it so I can ride it if beer is not involved? Honestly, I wish I could really blame the beer, but I never drink that much.

Maybe that's the problem... half drunk = half assed work lol. Maybe you should go all the way!

I find I make less mistakes when I work alone. There is something about having someone else around distracting me with conversation that I end up sealing up a screwdriver inside the engine or something. I guess that's where this sign came from:

Yeah, I need one of those. My dog sometimes comes in and just stares at me while I work. Even that bothers me, but, as you can probably tell, I am a little odd.

Ebay or better yet eBid. People should spread the word about eBid. Ebay needs competition.

Default Cylinder and Piston Help

Hey, I am new to this site and have recently aquired a 1986 Lt230S I need to bore out the cylinder and replace the piston and connecting rod. The problem is that it all ready has a 1.0mm over piston, so I am wondering if anyone knows if I can bore it out and put a 250 piston in it?? Or do I have to resleeve or replace the cylinder?

Thanks in advance
RJ

You can bore it up to 2mm over. It won't be a 250, but a 243. Stock is 66mm. 2mm over is 68mm. You can resleeve and go 70 and 71mm for 258 and 265cc.

I've recently acquired 4 lt230's two 85's an 87 and an 89, only three are in any kind of condition to run (the forth is does not have an engine) anyway the one I'm on here about is one of the 85's. We got it from my girlfriends brother who had it sitting under a bed liner for four years, he had it bored and put a fancy carb on it and after a cleaned the carb out it ran ok but I could never open it up all the way because it would start bawging down (like it wasn't getting enough gas), then the damn rod bearing seized up so it was out of commission for a while until I changed the whole bottom end out with the other 85 I got that was burnt up. So I took the same jug and piston and carb and put it on that lower end thinking it should perform the same however, now I can't even get up into forth gear with out it bawging down and trying to stall on me... It is quite frustraiting, I need to one two of them ready to go by saterday or I won't be able to go on the poker run with the girlfriend anyone got any ideas? I've cleaned the card several times the only thing I haven't done is dip it. I have had suggestions from people telling me to jet it, then other people tell me that my valves are bad?!?!?!? I just need a simple answer from someone that has dealt with this before.
