I've seen some old floats get holes in them and leak gas inside and that makes them heavy, but you could probably hear the gas swishing inside.

the sticker on my 230s says 05 1985, so is it a 1985 or 86 model?

I would say 85 if it's anything like the how the auto industry markets their vehicles, but I'm not 100% sure. Is there a number on the frame? I'm sure you can find a decoder online that will be able to tell you what year model it is.

my new to me 1986 LT230S.. I am obviously a new guy...my name is Trevor and I live in Brandon Florida. A good friend of mine "talked" me into getting an ATV and here it is. for $375 I got a running atv that needs some tlc. The exhaust is/has fallen off, the front master cylinder needs replaced, left front caliper is missing pads and leaks, the rear rotor is warped, tie rod ends, loose shifter and the intake boot has had a questionable repair. any help would be extremely appreciated. Hi everyone long time no post. Im going to try not to type like a retard now. So my shifter is getting really sloppy and now its just a pain to shift. The shifter linkage is good but the little post that the shifter goes on is getting worn down. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to fix it?
BTW its an lt230e

I got rid of the stock shifter setup not long after I bought my 230. I think the shifter I'm using was originally meant for a dirtbike but I'm not sure. My mechanic ordered it for me, said he used to swap them out all the time. Instead of that crappy linkage it connects right to the splined shaft. Maybe someone else remembers but it seems like I remember reading that a blaster shifter would work?

yea i did the same thing. i had an extra shift lever laying around from an old RT180 yamaha dirtbike that i stuck on mine. The number of spline teeth doesnt match up perfectly, but it is pretty close and works real well. i just kind of forced it on there with a hammer... maybe a bad idea, but it works way better than that sloppy stock linkage.

Hey guys, I've got a question for you. I just got done rebuilding an 87 230S. When it gets hot, it'll stall sometimes and I can't start it unless I tow it or let it cool off. I'm thinking the primary coil in the stator assembly is going bad. Anyone know where I can find a primary coil?
