85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.
I can't believe this ****! It snowed yesterday so finally got all my errands done this morning and was all excited to go riding around the neighborhood in the snow and went for like 10 minutes had to come back to the house to grab a different pair of gloves and when I jumped back on the quad and tried to kick start it my steering stem broke. I guess I can be thankfull that I wasn't going 50 mph when it happened.

Any single cylinder is going to have some vibration. My original 230 vibrated so bad that the frame mount bolts either came out or the holes egg-shaped. Its tough to say what's normal. If its bad enough that you're asking about it, it might be a crank issue.
I think the 230 does vibrate more than most singles because its stroke is longer. But it wouldn't seem like a brand new machine off the showroom floor would have the levers jumping around n that.... though I haven't checked that theory.

I have read quite a bit about the steering stem issue. I will probably end up pulling mine out and fabbing up some reinforcements to MIG in there.
Does anyone fell like with all the vibration to tha bars n added weights to the end of bars to absorb some of vibration could put more stress on the steering stem welds n fatigue them until it breaks?
Oh yes. If you decrease the weight to zero (no handlebars), then the stem would never fatigue. Maybe rubber bushings would be better to isolate the bars from the stem and reduce weight further.
Hey guys, as my cylinder was off, my friend removed the screw on the cam chain tensioner. now, when i look inside, i cant see anything inside the tensioner other than an O ring or something like that. i also cant turn in the screw. please help
