85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.
You r rite Randy don't seem to see many post.I've been working on a 1988 lt230s I bought from J-Mauld n just got the lt250s back together n runs like a top.but on this build i went with a kingquad cylinder hand on the lt250s engine and used the matching cam that came with it.I didn't run it full speed yet I still need to mount fenders n tighten up wire.the cam looks to be mild compared to the lt250s cam,n the rocker cover has no mounts for the upper frame mounts I don't feel that's a big deal but I will keep n Eye on motor mounts to see if theres any stress happening.I will try n post pics this weekend but I Coach my son in two sports n i fell like im never home.
Question on a LT230s axle. I found one that has a three bolt disc would that axle fit on a LT250s or is the rear end all different from one another. I know there are different part numbers, but not sure how different they are.
I believe lt230 87-89 axle carrier is the same as 89-90 lt250s carriers ,85-86 lt230s axles carriers r different I used a 87 lt230 carrier on my 89 lt250s when I get home ill look to see if mine has the three bolt disc

Here is a 250, 230, and 4x4 cam
Concerning carriers, I have the 86 carrier with the eccentric chain tightening method instead of the bolts used on the 87-90 carriers. I don't remember having any problems installing a 250s axle off ebay. As far as I know, all the axles have the same bearing specs and will swap freely with all carriers.
Well, the old girl is gonna have a new owner today. Trading her for a clean 94 Ford Ranger. I've been looking for a midsize truck to drive back and forth to work that gets better gas mileage than my silverado. A guy I work with offered to trade straight up. I'll stick around though! Who knows, I may end up buying another one as a project or something...
2.3L, 5 speed, 2wd. Only issue with it is that it "chugs" until it warms up. I'm pulling the iac tonight and give it a good cleaning. If that doesn't fix it I'll clean the maf sensor (I'll probably do that anyway). I always said I'd never own a Ford but I'm really digging the ranger.
And when I say it's clean I'm saying it's clean for Michigan. Plenty of rust but a good solid truck.

Gotta love Fix Or Repair Daily and sometimes I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Ford means.
Yup, the salt really eats away at them up there!
I don't know much about the 2.3, but when you said "mileage", I was pretty certain that's what you had. The 3.0 gets the same mileage as the 4.0, but with less power lol!
The Ranger Station is packed with info about the Ranger. Usually when I have a question, I head there. I try not to post though, just search. Those guys don't seem very friendly. Or maybe it's just me lol
I've never seen a change from cleaning the MAF, but I do know there can be no air leaks between the filter and the MAF. I had a voltmeter hooked up to something (I forgot) and watched the voltage swing wildly, then steady as I tightened the hose clamps on the intake runner super super tight. I also know the 3.0 simply has to have motorcraft double platinum plugs. I spent $200 trying to get the CEL light to go off (which I never did) and all that money didn't change the way the engine ran at all. Then I put double platinum plugs in and the engine ran MUCH better.
I'm currently in the middle of trying to get the belt to stop squeaking on the power steering pump. After months of dealing with this issue, I'm quite certain I have to change the fluid several more times before it goes away for good.
If I ever bought a Ranger of unknown origin, I would first change the plugs, fuel filter, power steering fluid and assess the condition of the gas filler tube.
