Default 85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.

Well the rebuild isn't going as well as I hoped. I have the motor in the quad and the carb hooked up and starting cranking. Nothing, nothing, and nothing. Saturday after kicking it for some time it starting leaking gas thru the air box drain hose, I gave up.

Sunday I changed the main jet from 250 to 210 and the pilot jet from 20 to 15. Kicked it forever again while playing with the air screw and idle adjust, adjusting them in 1/4 turn increments and still nothing. Eventually gas starting leaking from the air box again so I pulled out the ol' 26mm carb and hooked it up and still nothing. I put the 28mm back on and kicked for quite some time and gave up.

Today same thing. I did notice right off the bat Saturday that it kicks alot easier and I am not sure if that is good or bad. Every time I check the spark plug it's pretty wet from gas. I'm wondering what I did wrong putting this thing back together.

well obviously gas isnt your issue, its spark, pull the plug ground it out and kick the engine over to check for spark. if the spark is weak get a new plug. also when you put it together did you time it correctly?

Yeah, how does the spark look? I remember you had trouble with those screws coming out of the magneto coils.... I wonder if they damaged the magneto in some way?

im sucken air...............I put my carb back together and put it back where it belongs. Ripped through about 15 miles of back woods Alabama. When it gets hot. (the 230) it develops a leak that drips from the head cover onto the exhaust header. And dont dare let it idle down. It will not start unless its held wide throttle like it was floded. But let it cool down...................One kick (PG) and it fires right up.
I dont think it is the ignition, it will fire off, if given enough liquid dino. I think ive developed a casting warpage. To many VERY cold branch crossing I guess. Lotta rain here latley. Or maybe ive got a bad gasket. Either way, Im loosing compression once it gets hot. you can tell that from just kicking it over without the release. The fact you can says it all. What yall think, Randy.

Well ya all, went riding in lawless Nevada this weekend.........Though I thought I was out of the 230 biz a couple times due to theft, and or my incompetence, I am truly done! She ran like a champ for 1.5 days.... Till I jumped a hill I have no business jumping at my age! Kinda hit it wrong, flipped over and she burst into flames! The turd, flipped twice, but I went 150 yards plus down the hill. When I stood up (thank god I could still do that!) I looked up and she was burning!

I think the only pix we have is of it on fire. She was too far from camp to save with fire extinguishers......

Yes, I am extremely bummed...

Tell me what ya all need and you can buy ALL my spare parts CHEAP!!!!
