Hey guys, I just made a LT230S social group! Not sure what you do in them but it'd be cool to see how many people with 230's we could get in there. Plus we're the first social group!

There's a link to the tribute album in there too.

Under the quick links click social groups and it should be the only on there.

WoW you guys have been busy!

Well the fishing was great, but the catching sucked! Biggest fish was a 17" Sauger on Saturday in the snow, Sunday they had the dam open FULL! So that pretty much killed it.

Anyway, that is a sweet looking quad for the money atvman! The pilot jet pretty much only controls idle. So you should not hav eto worrry about the needle and main until you get it running/idleing. You can also restrict the air intake until you get it running idleing as well so that you at least know it runs and idles.

I do not think the air filter and exhaust would take it completely out of the carbs range. It should still idle, even poorly it should still idle. I think rechecking how the carb was put together is the best starting point, also set the float like the manual says. Check to make sure the choke is working like it is supposed to. Replace the spark plug. I put a new plug in mine and it would not start, I put the old one back in it and it ran like a champ.

If it does not make sense it is usually something simple.

Glad to hear you had a good trip! Thankfully most fishing trips don't rely solely on catching fish!

Thanks, and yeah it was a pretty darn good deal. If you look back a little bit I put a link to my photobucket page that has some vids of it idling. Once we could get it started, it would idle decently. But again, that was with the mixture and idle adjust screws backed almost all the way out. We just can't get it to kick start.

I had gone through the carb with the manual and double checked everything pretty good so I think that's all in line. Its just the wrong components. Did you see my post about the float adjustment? Any knowledge on where you measure?

We put a new plug in the second day and that seemed to help some. We even tried swapping out the coil, wire and cap from my 230 but that didn't change anything.

After I moved the needle up a notch (richened) I could get it to start by rolling it down the driveway (It took a long pull behind the truck before). So that was a step in the right direction. It just seems to want a lot more fuel.

Which brand of sprockets do you guys like, or is there really a huge difference? I'm looking at the Sunstar 39 and the JT 39. JT is ten dollars cheaper @ $24.99. Both are high carbon steel, they just have different shaped "speed holes".

Does the 13 tooth front work with the Bike Bandit case saver?

Also, on chains, how do you know if you need a new one? And if I were to get a new one, who do you guys like? And, O-ring or non-O-ring? I think I've heard on here non-O-ring.
I like the 11/37 or even 11/36 if I could find one. I have 20's in back. I have the 37T split sprocket. 39T's are a dime a dozen.

I told you guys before about the steering stem breaking.... I told you to check yours to see if its been repaired. That's twice now I've seen pics on this site of a broken stem while riding.

I don't have a lot of time right now, but I'll try to throw some thoughts out every now n then. Grammer will be out the window though.

Oh, you can keep the front end down by having smaller rear tires and longer swingarm. Gearing may help you some, but eventually the geometry will catch up with you.

I hate o-ring chains with a passion. Only time I would EVER consider using an oring would be on a ute or for something for the ladies or kids.

When the chain starts cutting into the teeth on the sprockets, its worn out. I usually check sideways play too. It shouldn't wiggle side-to-side much.

I like the primary drive chain from rocky. It has the windows in it to save weight.

bigger rear tires = bigger front sprocket = smaller rear sprocket = higher top speed = less torque

I've ran the 14t. I've done the math. No way I'd ever run a 14t again. It amplifies the weight and friction of the chain. Go with the smallest front you can get away with.

Where you at Randy?
Just been doing other things. Kinda lost interest in quads for now. Been a lot of rain, cold, etc.
