Default 85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.

the rubber between the carb and the engine is that nice and tight cause that was my problem it was sucking in to much air, it was a bitch to start with it like that and like you said any adjustments to the carb and it shut itself right off

Well we had just been running it with the filter and intake tube disconnected. I think I really need to just go through tomorrow and readjust all the carb settings. I looked a while ago and he had the throttle adjust and pilot screws almost all the way out.

Man, how frustrating when something won't start! Especially when you know it should be able to run!

nummbr7 hit the nail on the head. The guy rebuilt the carb with the stock components. So my question now is what should they be and would that be the sole reason for it not starting? It would run though once we pull started it, but we had the mixture screw and the idle adjust screw almost all the way out. I adjusted the needle jet to be a little richer, I moved it to the 2nd notch, to see if I can get it to start.

So does anyone have any ideas on the jetting with the DG RC exhaust and a drilled out airbox lid? The air filter is foam and looks pretty stock, so I'm going to guess its stock.

After I kick it for a while, it starts to **** gas out the carb drain tube. Is that a sign that I need to adjust the float level? In the Clymer Manual, it says to measure it from the body of the carb to the float when the float arm is just touching the float needle, not pushing on it. Anyone know exactly where to measure it from? That's a pretty vague description. It says the measurement is supposed to be 20.8-22.8 mm.

I've ran into that a few times

Does it start with ether?

I didn't mess around with the stock carb much, I had it fairly close before I switched to the tm28 - I just drilled the low speed jet till it was idling and running with my air mixture screw about 2 turns out , then I just played with the needle position - it went ok like that but nothing like the flatslide

I had mine out on the trail for the first time this year , I'm glad I bought it , such a fun little quad, it actually keeps up with my nephews kdx200 pretty well

I hate my cobra pipe though its the most obnoxious annoying sound ever - does anyone have a sound clip of the dg pipe?

I didn't have any ether, so I couldn't tell ya. Which one is the low speed jet? The Clymer manual uses different names and I'm definitely not a carb pro.

You can listen to the vids in that link I posted above to hear what a DG pipe sounds like on a poor running 230. Sounds nice, not too loud. I think its a DG RC pipe, not a DG RCM like you see available now though. Maybe they stopped making them? I like the sounds of my Supertrapp a lot.

Anyone with a DG pipe will to share their jet sizes? Where do you get the bits to drill out the jets? Just Home Depot or something?

the main jet is the one the needle runs on and the pilot or low speed jet is the one off to the side

I have a shop so I just have the bits but you can probably pick some up at sears, I don't think home depot will stock anything smaller than 1/16"
