But some dealers made CR500RAF's I think they called it...6 speed, more displacement, tuned exhaust, etc. They sold them as factory race bikes for several years, from what they told me. I think they kinda did like toyota did with TRD.
All I know is I made the hill climb on that bike that they all tried and failed on their hopped up LTR450's, BARELY! I sat up on the top shaking for an hour and a half! scarey ****!

It is a 6 speed. From what the boys tell me, they stopped making the CR500R in 2001?Stock 500's had 5 speed.

The gas tank is only gonna be 1 gallon though. 8.5 pounds roughly?

The zilla book says the cooling system takes 2 qts water. Seems kinda light to me, but I don't know. 1 qt of gear oil. So that's 1 gal of gas + 1 qt oil + 2 qts water compared to all the 4 stroke metal + 2 qts oil + whatever amount of gas you want in the tank.

Me too... Streetbikes are my vice. Get me on one of those and suddenly I'm a legend in my own mind. Back in 1994 I almost rode straight off the mountain and haven't touched one since. And I won't either unless its a Rebel or Virago or something small.
I do ok on dirt bikes. I guess I'm more scared of them. Makes sense since I wreck all the time.

I'm at a loss of how to save more weight. Even an aluminum frame would only save 5-10lbs. Tires is all I can think. Shave em down. 2 ply instead of 6. Stuff like that.

30% of the weight is in tires. The engine is about 15%. The frame is close to 5%. Hard to believe 50% of the weight is the rest of the crap... shocks, a-arm, s-arm, chain, tank, seat, etc.

Fronts will be completely smooth, and the backs will only have the proper amount of paddles to put the rpm's to the sand!
Hell, I don't know, I am leaving it up to the kids! I think the first approach is get the engine in, THEN mess with the details!
