It probably has 102 because bikebandit says the 250s chain has 104.

250s part # 479889-001
230s part # 479908-001

I know its only a 2 link difference.... I have both chains:

I'm still confused... 1) you have a 250 crank with a 230 jug and somehow it didn't smack the head. 2) you have a 230 crank with 250 jug and very little compression (but you said twice the normal compression).

The small rod end on the 250 is 17mm. The 230 has a 16mm end. Measure the wrist pin and you'll know what you have.

Wonder how much trouble it would be to piece together a new one? Guess the hardest part would be finding a NOS frame.
Ive been hoarding a collection of New, NOS, and "unused" parts for years now. But im sure there is still less than 20 percent of a new quad in the collection.

Chain is supposed to be 104 pins. Order one for the LT4WD then. Its the 250cc 4wd quad.

Got the pivot bearings replaced. Keeping the pivot lubed makes it easier, and messier, to replace the old bearings when they do wear out. Replaced the old pivot bolt/nut, spacer, chain roller and chain slider, along with the bearings with new units while at it.
Good as new.
