I read the same article and you seem to be leaving alot out.I am not a hater by any means and I'm glad you are happy with your bike but turn it into something that it's not.

You guys are lucky with only having to pay $8000 at most. I'll have to pay $11 000 CND once you throw in tax and a 2 year warranty. Our dollar is at about 85 cents U.S. so thats like $9300-$9500 US for a ltr450. I could come down to the states and get one but i would rather pay more and have an effective warranty, being able to insure it, and dealer support. But still us canuks get screwed with quad prices. You guys are lucky.

It's amazing that the fuel system is able to compensate for the changes to intake and exhaust without some sort of aftermarket module to help richen up the mixture. That is fantastic!
Truth be told, I was afraid of the FI tuning nightmeres that I anticipated with the LTZ considering it was unknown at the time and Suz was being very secretive about the specifics of the system. That was the reason I went with the Honda. Well...that and I did not want to wait another month for the LTZ to hit the market. Congrats on your purchases guys, it sounds like you are very happy.
Oh yah, great report Tanman.

The EFI will not compensate for any aftermarket additions. The CB only compensates for the lid off and ps out.. Our highly modded 434z Athena and Yoshi 450z will put the hurting on the QR w/ basic mods, but that's all it will do. The Z's aren't made to run a closed course of any kind w/o big coin in aftermarket legs and such to compete w/ the QR.. The gearing for dunes is terrible for the QR w/ paddle tires.. The stock tires have a roll out under 58's. A 21" Hauler paddle has a round 68-71 rollout. My 20" Kenda Knarlys have a 62" rollout and my 20" Haluers have a 64" rollout. All these different tire sizes require the gearing to be changed to have the proper gearing. You can under gear a machine as easily as over gear it.. When the right rear sprockets come out the QR will unleash it's awful gearing for the dunes..

I got my lt-r about a week ago and havnt regreted it at all. Unfortunately i dont have any pics because im to busy with paying off the quad and actually riding it. Cost my 8k otd w/o extras. havnt gone to the dunes yet even though i live in yuma, big shame since i got a full set of paddles. The groung clearence is unbelievable but the swingarm is like 4in. off the ground. Seams like a sweet duner but rocks arent its best friends. i jumped it about 6-7ft from a launch to no landing and it sunk all the way down but didnt bottom out. Seamed like it would and all my friends thought it did. I have about 7hrs on my ltr and it still is not fully broken in and it is pissing me off because im riding so slow to break it in like the manual says(1/2throttle). the sliding/handling/jumping is unbelievable. you can slide this thing in 5th gear on a very sharp slide and for me no wheels came up at all. The light actually shines out so you can ACTUALLY see things in the dunes w/o turning to aftermarket lights. The suspension is way stiff especially when going slow. But its really to bad because i have no idea how i should adjust it sense it has 3 ways to adjust it which gives me no clue what i should do. but at high speeds it is unbelievable. This raptor 700r was racing me to a point through whoops and i absolutely smoked him because i was doing my top speed through deep whoops i kid you not! i do have the cherry bomb but the power is still sluggish for my likeing, which im guess is do to the fact that i dont even have 10hrs on it yet. the turning is really sharp which is nice because you can pull some monster slides. the grips are tearing the crap out of my hands which i kind of expected for stock grips.

sorry if i dragged on but some of you wanted honest facts. and im really tired so my writing is probably skipping back an forth. If you get this thing make sure you get the skid plate even if you just need it for peice of mind because half of your focus is going to picking lines where you dont ruin your swingarm on your 8 thousand dollar quad.

I'm about 185 lbs. Backed off the front springs four turns and the back 3 turns. Clicked the comppression dampning back 3 clicks front and rear and rebound played with it till I liked it (don't remember exactly what). PRM makes a full length swingarm skid plate. For better ground clearance get taller tires so you won't have to be so picky about your lines. for better performance after break in get a Cherry Bomb plug in module from Yoshimira (about $45 w/shipping) and take off your air box lid and remove the spark arrestor from the muffler.

I'm breaking mine in for racing on the 11th and it's taking a while to get simple things like Nerfbars. A few companies make them already but they are on a few weeks back order. I bought the cherry bomb ($39.99) removed the lid, and took ot the spark arrester. The exhaust sound and power gain was really nice. I'm running 91 gas with some race fuel mixture and this thing is like another bike. I will wait for Yoshimura to offer more then one exhaust for now as the bike is powerful enough. I recommend the PRM chassis skidplate, but not the swingarm skid plate as its more for heavy duty trail riding, not racing. I'm only going to race this bike and trail ride my raptor. if you racing in soft dirt you don't need anything on the rear swing arm as it's pretty well taken care of. maybe an AC Racing when it comes out.
I would recommend this bike to anyone racing, not trail riding or playing in the sand. There are better less expensive bikes for that, like the raptor or Predator.

I finally just got my full yoshi system on my ltr450. The original head pipe was wrong on the first batch, so my quad sat in the shop for two weeks. I am now running a full yoshi system, no air lid, cherry bomb and 50/50 91 octane and U4 racing fuel. All ltr owners will realized that the mods mentioned turn this thing into a completely different monster. I mostly ride Pismo, but just got back from Gorman. I did soften up the front suspension quite a bit, but left the rear alone. (6 foot 2 inches, 205lbs). I am considering the big bore kit from Trinity and heavy duty clutch. I spent 8,000 too, but so far, well worth it.
