OK, I want to finally purchase a KQ, looking at an 05. What are ALL of the known problems this quad has/ might have. should i go ahead and get an 06. Are there any probs besides the air filters , that arent listed on the suzuki site in the "recall" section, all they list is the tie rod recall. the 05 im looking at is $6900 OTD. good deal? or go with an 06 or other quad?

Unless you like the color options for the '06 better, may as well get an '05 as long as the tie-rods are of a silver color and not a bronze/copper tone. Slap an aftermarket air filter in either way and you're good to go. Many choose to have their caster adjusted because after the rie-rod recall, the front end becomes very nervous after about 60mph. It makes one feel very uneasy. I'm staring this mod right in the face now since the Denton Steering Stabilizer isn't out yet and apparently won't be out for some time. Supposedly, there's a guy on Nyroc's site that if you send him your A-arms, he'll do it cheap. I sent him a PM and haven't heard a response yet.

Hey redgoblin, what about the reverse failure on this quad, do you know if the fixed it with factory installed bearings, or is it most likely fixed with the ECM change, or dealer bearing change?

Both. The newer Kings, actually most if not all of them that are still in the dealerships, have the upgraded reverse parts AND the limiter in the ECM. This limiter, though it can be disabled, is not necessarily annoying at all, in my opinion. Some guys can't stand it, but I haven't found a situation yet where I've come close to needing no limiter there. Either way, the reverse issues are a thing of the past.

Is there any way to know if the KQ im looking at has them both, the ECM and the bearing, maybe a certain VIN#-up, maybe its not that big a deal with the ECM change only, but would surely make me more at ease knowing 100% i get the bearing upgrade too. thanks for the info!

Yeah, do a search on the Suzuki forum for "vin" and look around. However, the updated ECMs are on every new KingQuad, guaranteed. In fact, mine still has the defective reverse parts and I honestly don't care.
