Default KQ700, Lag, really a problem?

Well I finally made the move and got my KQ last week. An 05 for $6900 OTD. I didnt think it was to bad a price so i jumped. I am concerned as ive stated in the past on other posts, about the issues that seem to keep popping up, I guess that didnt stop me though did it, I figure after the air filter replace and the tie rod exchange that have already been done, i should hopefully have a trouble free quad. The low end lag is an issue to me, of course it is only present when you gun it from a dead stop, if im riding around already and gun it, it takes of super quik. I think alot of the people saying they dont notice a lag are gunnin it after they are moving, try stopping and gunning from a dead stop, you cant help but notice it. The lag is why my cousins BF750 jumps me about 1 1/2 quad on take of from dead stop, only to be chased down rappidly. If we are both moving along at 5 MPH or faster and then gun it he doesnt jump out on me, I just walk away from him.
