it sounds to me like you're getting some ring blow-by. it's an '86 4-stroke. it probably could use a fresh top end.

 

i dont want to spend too much money so im gonna have my teacher take a look at it, hopefully its not anything to do with the piston or cylinder.

 

i wouldnt worry about the rings if the smoke is white

 

yeah hopefully that the rings arent the case.

 

Mine does the same thing. Can you spell "valve seals?" I've read somewhere that the seals let a bit of oil by after many years. Mine mostly smoke when the engine is cold then goes away after everything expands.

 

OKAY now i brought my quad to school and i showed my teacher the smoke and he said it was blue and that i will need new rings, but im gonna check everything out tomororw to make sure theres no damage to the piston or cylinder. i hope not... but im pretty confident that its just the rings. So yeaeh my eyes must suck cuz the smoke looked white to me haha. ill keep ya'll updated
