Default Z-400 valve specs

if i were you i wouldnt waste my money, new shims shouldnt be necessary at all, especially since its not old. ive rebuilt an OLD honda interceptor crotch rocket and new shims werent needed. all that you need to do is adjust the valves with the gauge and you should be fine. but you have to have the piston at the right position. unless the mechanic at the dealership sais its totally necessary i wouldnt waste your money, but then again thats just me.

The only way to adjust the clearance is by changing the shim under the puck. There is no adjuster on the rocker like most have. I am a auto tech and a lot of imports do this and it sucks to adjust the valves.

I was tired when I typed it and had it backwords. what you show is correct
and if you know what size shim you need you can sometimes buy it from the dealer
without getting the whole kit for around $80. and adjusting your valves is part of keeping your bike running
in top shape. its easy to do but it does take a little time

I just checked the valves, intake at 6thou, exhaust at 8 thou. Checked t-chain adjusted and was on last click. Has any one ever used one of those aftermarket adjuster,s, or am i better of just replacing the chain and guide,s?

I run one and havent had a problem yet. it does take a while to get the feel of it so you dont have it to tight
and if its a stock chain I would replace it with new guides. they may not look worn but where the tensioner pushs
on it wears and DID makes a nice timing chain for the Z for about the same price

If I put my finger in the tensioner hole I can feel a deep wearspot on the guide. Since I am selling the quad to my neighbor I am going to replace the t-chain and guide. Where is the best place to guy a DID chain from? And do they also sell the guides?
