86 LT250r Second Gear Problems

Default 86 LT250r Second Gear Problems

Hi im new to this forum and i have a 86 lt250r. the other day i took it for a spin and everytime i would shift to second gear it would pop right out. Any suggestions to what is wrong. I have a feeling im gona have to split the cases is this a real hard job. All help would be great thanks.

the dogs on the mating gear are worn. you will have to split the case to fix that. if you get a manual and follow it you should have no problems.

Thanks alot when i split the case are there any bearings or seals i will have to replace. Thanks alot and what manual do you recommend.

Default 86 LT250r Second Gear Problems

when i rebuild an engine i change out all the seals. the K+S kits on ebay are a good deal, for a complete seal kit. i would aslo at least change the main bearings, and any other bearing that looks worn. the beaing behind the clutch and the bearing near the sprocket have the most load and wear, so check them. and also get a complete gaskit kit.

when you split the cases look over all the other gears as well, and measure the shift forks.\\

if you can get a suzuki manual. a clymer will work but sometimes there specs are off, and they miss steps.
