Lectron 44 on a Z400 w/ 470 kit
Hey guys, I have a friend who is looking at new carbs for his big bore Z400 (470 kit). He has looked into the Edelbrock and the FCR but I'm just looking at other options for him. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with the 44mm Lectron carb. I know its big brothers (HV46 and 48) are some of the better options for the DS650 and they are now setting up a 44mm for the YFZ450. I called the distributer and they said it can be done and would provide some nice gains but he had never set one up for a Z. Anyone run this carb or heard of anyone running it, or should he just stick with the Edelbrock or FCR.
Thanks
Thanks

I've only seen one other guy who has run the 44 on the Z. He didn't have nearly enough flow to compensate for the big Lectron, and ended up selling for an FCR.
Basically, you are going to need a SERIOUS amount of engine goodies to see any benefits over a well tuned FCR, along with the basic big bore mods. I would suggest going with an FCR, you can find YFZ owners selling their FCR 39's for very cheap.
Mario and I had discussed going to a Lectron on my bike but decided to have the FCR punched out to a 42mm instead.
Hope this helps!

I love my Lectron!
Sea level to mountains, never a problem or adjustment. No jets, a metering needle.
The trick is getting it set-up for your ride.
The answer to that trick is Tom Carlson. He lives and breaths Lectrons.

Tom will set it up and you'll love it. He will advise you on which size Lectron to buy for your motor.
The FCR is a good carb but my Lectron expieriences tell me that I'd buy another Lectron.
Good luck on your choice.
