Default CVT Belt Slipping on KQ 700

I read what you have been saying and my KQ does the same thing 1000 miles. I was planning on changing the belt but now I do not know it that is the problem. How do you clean the clutch and if I was interested in changing the springs in the clutch is it ease and does it need special tools. Also will it change the way the quad starts off because I do not want to change that, and were would it get the new springs and rollers. If I chang or clean the clutch should I also just change the belt and is there any tool I need for that? what is a good after market bet or should I by from dealer? Is the gasket reusable on the belt cover. Any help would be great thanks Nate

Yep, mine does the same thing, has done so since it was new. I've got 5400 miles on it now, same thing, I just don't brake heavily anymore. If you let off the brakes just before you come to a stop, it'll take care of the problem. The dealer here said all the Suzooks do it. Kinda annoying but once you get used to it, no big deal anymore. Wow 5400 miles on it!! How's she holding up with that kind of usage?

Yeah about the belt slipping when you stop, I've noticed that if you let it roll just a little before you give it gas again it won't slip.

Toyeboy: She's holding up great, looks and runs like new yet. It did have a problem recently where it bogged out bad at 1500-2000 rpm (approximately) it turned out to be the throttle positioning sensor. I got it replaced now it runs like new again. Only other problem is I spent $80 for the twin air filter to replace the crappy stock one. It barely ever sees mud, I just rip up and down the dusty trails. Other than the belt problem, which reallly isn't a problem, it's the best machine I've had. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. Thanks, Wayne

Have you replaced your stock belt yet? If so at what mileage? I've got nearly 1300 miles now and my belt hasn't given me any trouble yet.

I did have the belt replaced at 1800 miles, only because I complained to the dealer about it slipping like that (after hard braking) He got Suzuki to split the price of the belt (which was still too much) There was nothing wrong with the belt they took off, but put the new one on anyway. Didn't solve the problem, now I've got 3,700 miles on this belt (total of 5500 after todays ride) My '04 Grizzly has 8700 miles on the original belt, no problems, doesn't slip at all. Hard to believe Suzuki says to replace the belt at 1,200 miles, certainly not needed that often. Thanks, Wayne
