Default LT 185 WON'T IDLE!!!!!!!!!

Once I get it started it won't idle. Messing with the screws in the carb don't do a thing for it. What should I do?

It's an 86 LT185

Does it run OK at 1/4 throttle and above?
Does using the choke make any difference?
Is the idle speed high enough?
Its probably a plugged up pilot jet, in which case the carb float bowl will need to be opened, and the jet removed and either replaced or cleaned.

Pressing the gas makes it rev a tiny bit higher, but not a lot.

I took it apart and soaked it in carburetor cleaner for awhile and blew it out and put it back together. I set the screws like the manual said and it still does it. The carb is missing the gas primer and it has been capped off and it is also missing the choke spring. I'm ready to buy a new carburetor if anyone knows where I can get one?

first off are you sure the slide is seating all the way down? make sure the cable isn't to tight, and holding the slide from closing all the way. then if its still idleing high, you either need a bigger pilot jet or the intake boot is cracked.

you know these have fuel pumps? if thats acting up if will run wiered.

How far down is the slide suppose to go?

I can ride it around so I don't think it's the fuel pump. But I had to tighten the brakes so much that it's hard to push in neutral, to be able to slow down when I ride it. If I can get it to stop the chain slips sometimes. To give yall an idea of how much it revs.

the slide should go all the way down. then you adjust the idle by the idle screw if necassary.

the chain slipping means you have a worn sprocket, most likely the front.

Alright, the slide doesn't come close to the bottom. I tried messing with the cable but it's so old it broke. I ordered a new one. Thanks for all the help.
