New Black Widow 14.25 Production Run
#1
I've been talking to Kam and Mixxer over at YFZTech about another run of the 14.25:1 Black Widow Pistons and it was suggested to me to get at least 8 people interested and they will do a new run.
If you are interested, please state so and I will give him the names of the people interested.
The more people interested the cheaper they will be.
I expect them to run between $200 and $250
If I get enough people together, I can get a better estimate.
These pistons are 94mm and can will fit all bored LTZ, KFX, and DVX's.
Here's some pics

what kind of gas will you run with that? i run a 13.5:1 and i use vp-c12(106-108?)
how would you rate that piston to the hammerheadz piston.
why would you run a 14? is it better for low or high torque??
will a stock crank wholed up to that?

You could probably get away with running the same fuel without issue, although until I get mine ordered and installed I couldn't tell you for sure. I'll see what one of the lucky "5" that got the prototypes are running.
This piston is a second generation Hammerhedz, made by the same folks, designed by the same folks. CP makes some of the best pistons in the world and this one is no different. The Hammerhedz were a "race-only-one-ring-piston".... but the "Widows" are another breed altogether... They have truly incorporated ALL the NASCAR and FORMULA ONE tricks for this ATV piston. Most Z owners wouldn't want to pay for $6/gal race gas let alone the $200 piston, and that's the reason that they only make them on demand for the Z. Most people that used to race these bikes have went to LTR's or similar. But for those of us that will never get rid of our Z's, this is the future. If you go over to YFZTech, you will see everyone with a YFZ is going with a 14:1 widow. Even the 450R guys are catching on. I HAVE to go with one just to keep up with these bikes, but I need more people to do a run. I will be buying 2 of them and another friend is getting 2 as well. We probably have 8 already, but the more we get, the cheaper they are. Being the Z is on a downward spiral, I don't expect them to do any more runs after this one....
The higher compression has shown a torque increase across the entire powerband.
And yes the stock crank will hold up to the compression, although some people have had head gasket issues. I will be running an viton o-ringed head to ensure proper seal. (Not saying you will need to, but I would suggest it, the head design can only hold so much pressure in)
Just for comparison, here is a visual comparison between a Wiseco Piston and a Widow done by Rstaw on Z400Cent.
Widow = CP job # 54075, pn: LTZ435-14 (94 mm. bore) raised top with cross-flow venting to take maximum advantage of cam-overlap
WISECO = pn: 4795M09450 (94.5mm. bore) dished-top with small reliefs to take advantage of cam-overlap
Widow skirts = look like smoothly machined teflon coated skirts
WISECO skirts=look like ROUGH teflon coated skirts with radial mill cuts that I can get a fingernail in?
Widow = 4 compression ports for the top ring, to ensure positive ring/cylinder contact during the compression stroke.
WISECO = none
Widow = 2 oil gallies from the oil ring to the wrist pin on each side
WISECO = has no oil gallies for the wrist pin
Widow = 4 mm wrist pin walls
WISCO = 3 mm wrist pin walls
Both have 8 ports for oil ring "splash charging"
If you have any other questions, or just want to talk to the maker, pm KGB or MIXXER over at YFZtech, and they can fill you in.

I wouldn't say I know my stuff, I just know ALOT of the right people that MOST DEFINETLY know their stuff!!
The motor I am building this winter is going to be something entirely new to the Z. This thing will be a horsepower and torque monster capable of over 60HP, not to mention the fact that it should rev faster than any motor out there.
Here's some info on the new motor.
14.25:1 94mm Black Widow piston by CP
64.8mm Stroker Crank (=449cc) with counterweights shaved and knifed. (Internally balanced)
Crankshaft forward balancer removed (-3lbs of rotating weight)
Titanium Rod
Head Ported and Prepped by Duncan Racing (viton o-ringed)
Titanium oversized Valves / Titanium Valve springs
Shortened Bronze Valve Guides
Megacycles X510 Grind Cams
Dyna Programmable CDI
Sudco 41mm FCR
ARP studs for the entire motor
I can't wait to see how this puppy will run!!!

I'm still building mine for MX though.
I'd very much like to build a 536 stoker on alky and give you raptor boys a run for your money!!!
Either way, good to see another Okie on here!!! (I'm originally from Newkirk...see north of Ponca City)
Oh and kawiking, she knows its not stock, but I get away with it because I put alot of money in hers as well!!!
