I was wondering if there are any draw backs to getting a 2006 z400? I was looking at 4x4 and decided the BruteForce 650 4x4i was nice but am i really going to need a 4x4? I trail ride and thats about it. I love speed as well and $5000 is close to the limit, if i get a 4x4 i was going to trade in my Mojave so the price would drop into my range. Can i get a winch for the z, in case. The 06 are on sale for around $4500. Anything different between the 06 and 07.
All i have been on is sport quads and i was on a kfx400 04 for an hour today. I ride two people sometimes aswell.
Any other ideas,

The Z400 is a great quad, I have an '03 and love it. For trail riding it's great too. If you ride double very much a utility might work better, the Z400 has a great seat for riding double but if you are a big guy you might want to reconsider riding double. I have seen people put a winch on a sport quad so you shouldn't have a problem.
Good luck!

Since you already have a Mojave, you pretty much know how much mud and gunk the Z can conquer too. There are no major differences between the '06 and '07, just BNG and a new color choice. Warn makes a sport quad specific winch that fits the Z also. If you are happy riding where and when your Mojave can, the Z will get you beeter suspension and more power. Those are 2 things that are always welcome.

I put the z400 in the search and have come across a bunch of bike with problems, now i know that that is the or a point of the fourm but what would it take to make the tranny go and people having to rebuild? My cusins kfx400 is an 04 and it has a problem that when in reverse if you apply more then a little bit of throttle it sound like he is hitting the rev limiter.
Im getting new so i dont have someones head ach and mantain my stuff, is there anything to watch for or anything hard about the z for maintnance other than oil, chain, brakes, batt, tires, coolent...
If i get this thinng tuesday im going to get the skid plates first thing aswell.

If you are buying new, then you have no worries about weak areas on the Z. Initial problem areas have all been corrected now. Has your buddies Kawie always hit the rev limiter in reverse? Many of the utes have a very low rev limit in reverse, maybe the Z does as well?

The Z400 is A great quad for whatever you want to do. With the exception of hunting. Even then you can make mod's to adapt. As far as the problems go on the fourm you must reamember that most people only post when they are having A problem. So that they can get help and support. Good luck on your new purchase.
