Default clutch question

if you let the clutch out and it doesnt move than its bad. we used to test cars this way, we would put it up against a power pole or a brick wall, start the motor and put it in gear, then let out the clutch with a little gas, if it kills the motor than its still good if the motoris still running with the clutch out than its bad or way out of adjustments.

the reason i am asking is becasue when i pull the clutch SLOWLY when my quad isnt running, it feels like its hitting something just a little bit. its hard to explain. it runs fine though
