I rebuilt the carb after first having the problem. Still will only run when I choke off the intake, it runs great then. Seems like it is getting air from some where else. any ideas?

not normal. it will not run unless I physically pinch off the tube coming from the airfilter

Before you get another, please try cleaning again.
Make sure to remove both jets and clean the holes in the jets and the carb body.
Also remove the brass needle seat and clean.
If that don't do it, I think it's (carb) has internal problems.
