Dies when I give it gas ???
#1
I have a 2001 LTF160.
I start it with choke on and as it warms up I turn the choke off.
It then idles fine.
When I gas it (in neutral) it starts to die unless I let off the gas.
So when I try to rev it, it keeps wanting to stall. If I play with it
for awhile and keep trying it will eventually keep running when I rev it.
(Mind you it is not under load, but in neutral).
What would cause this?
Are you suppose to drive it with the choke on for awhile until it warms up?
I figured if it idles without the choke I should be able to gas it with the choke off.
I'm thinking about putting a bottle of carb cleaner in the tank and see if that would help.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

My guess would be restricted air flow--either dirty air filter, choke stuck closed, or something blocking the air intake tube. After a couple of minutes of idling, you shouldn't need the choke on.

it could also be your cam
my friend had a kawsaki bayou that would do the same thing as your quad and he had a bad cam/timing
check out that possibility

I put some old carb cleaner, half of a bottle, and put it into tank and it seems to be running better.
I bought a new bottle of carb cleaner I want to put in the next time I refill the tank.
It is the kind you buy for cars and says it will treat up to 20 gallons.
Should I use the whole bottle or will that damage my engine using it with only 2 gallons of gas
(so should I use less than whole bottle)?

ACK!
You need to remove and drain the fuel tank and wash it out.
You also need to remove the carb and clean well.
This is the only way to insure a problem free fuel system.
