Default Eiger with different Carb problem

Hi, I have a 2003 eiger 2wd that all of a suddent started running like crap. I thought it was the problem with the carb lines so I cleaned it, put new clear lines on and still did not fix the problem. So I took off the top to the diaphragm throttle slide and there was gas in it??? So I cleaned it all up and tryed to put it back in, but it was all expanded from the fuel. I managed to get it in and it still didn't work, so I spent alot of time looking for other causes, but I couldn't find anything so I ordered a new diaphragm throtte slide, $127 CAD!!!!. So I installed it and problem fixed!! I tryed to figure out how the fuel got in there and I think some how it go it from the vacuum line or maybe up the slide??? Or maybe the petcock could be leaking fuel in to the vacuum line some how??? Has anyone had this problem?? If so did you figure out how the fuel got in there??

Nope, it was just soo expanded from the gas that the vacuum would not pull it up for WOT.

If you have a vacumn operated fuel valve on the gas tank, the diapham in there could be leaking, and vacumn is sucking gas in the carb thru there.
Does the fuel valve have a prime position...if so, you have a vacumn operated fuel valve.
If you pull the vacumn ported line off the fuel valve...does gas come out the hole?

Yes it has a prime position. No it does not leak fuel out.
