It's tapping, sounds like valve tap to me. I changed the oil, filter and cleaned the air filter, and it's still doing it.

What do you think it is?

How can I fix it?

How bad is it to run it like this?

if the tapping sound is in the top end of the motor then it might just need a valve adjustment, if the valves a out to far then you loose power and the motor just doesnt run right, its not good to run them to loose

 

WHAT year is it you shouldnt be having them kinda probs yet but if it is them they are not hard to adjust..

 

One of mine does it occasionally too. Can someone post instructions on how to adjust the valves?

 

It's a 2006. 1 does it and the other doesn't. It's not really down on power, but does tap. If someone has instructions/online manual that would be awesome. I have one for the z400, just not the 250's.
