Default Suzuki Eiger front end noise

My Eiger 4x4 is making a grinding noise up front. As you can tell, I'm new. How do you diagnose the problem? I took a cursory look at the boots and they all looked good. There was grease on the outside of the right outer boot. It makes this noise in 2wd and 4wd. The noise was getting louder so I quit riding.

Thanks all.

Ron, Sounds like a front wheel bearing is the probable culprit,,However,,If you have grease on the outside of your CV-boot,,there is a good chance that water can get in said boot. best way to diagnose is to tear it down..If it's the bearings..do both sides. I am not an expert on this matter,,However,,I do have experience. so take it for what it's worth. Good Luck JJ

It happened shortly after I went thru some deep water. I just couldn't tell if it was coming from one side or the other. So you're saying I should replace the boots and bearings on both outers? What about the inners?

Thanks.

It could very well be some small rocks you picked up from the water. I always have rocks getting stuck in between my brake caliper and rotor. Inspect that area a little closer and see what you find.

That is a good call,,Hard to diagnose via internet,,,check your brakes first,,,then your bearings,,,if your boot has a leak,,,fix it

How do you tell if the bearings are bad? Will they have noticeable flat spots?
