Eiger Diff Problem
#1
Hey all! 1st post here and I'm not sure if my ATV has a problem or not. I have a 2005 Suzuki Eiger. I went riding Saturday and when I got home I noticed oil coming from the front diff and the right half shaft was sticking out from the diff about 1/2 inch further than the left one. I started to disassemble the front end because I thought there was a c-clip that held the shaft in and that it was broke. I got to looking at the half shaft and it has something like a half moon clip on it that seems ok. So I tried pulling on the other side and it popped out just like the right side. Is this normal? Can I pop these back in, or is something in the diff broke allowing this to happen?
Are there any repair manuals out for these yet? I checked Clymers and Chilton repair manuals and can't find anything. I need to find the torques for the front end for reassembly. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I thought it was pricey but all I could find that was Eiger specific. Supposed to be the same as the mechanics use. Good pics and step by step instructions. Fortunately I haven't had to use it that much.

Thanks Back40, I appreciate the info.
Update on my situation -- I took my front differential and both half shafts to the dealer today and had the mechanic look at them. He said he has seen this before and it's usually from hitting a stump or something of that nature which can make the half shaft pop out of the diff . The end of the right half shaft is stripped clean of splines for about 3/4 of inch but, thankfully the diff and left half shaft are ok. I ordered a new half shaft for $189 and it should be here in a couple days. If I wasn't a mechanic myself, I'm sure the labor to fix it would have been quite high. I'm relieved that that's all that was wrong but disappointed at the same time that my Eiger was so easily damaged

If you're gonna throw down that kinda cash for a STOCK axle shaft, you should peruse Gorilla's web site, or even Rocky Mt. ATV for a deal. I've heard rumors (unsubstantiated) that Gorilla axles are ridiculously expensive, but marginally better than stock.

Couldn't find anything on Rockt Mtn that would fit. Found a gorilla half shaft on EBAY for $345.95 I'll stick with the stock one I ordered for now. I just hope it was a fluke that this happened my first time out
