I had one of those 230's good quad lasted a long time , my buddy rides it on his farm now still runs good just burns some oil . I had mine making a sound like that in second and third turned out the sprockets and chain were done in and the chain was jumping teeth, as far as the chirping hard to say without knowing a little more info like last time valves and cam chain were done oil change ect.

It sounds like a high pitch ping i guess ya could say from the motor area . it only does it the more you ride it and it seems like it loses some power i bought the it and the engine was fresh, runs strong though maybe ill try a oil change see if that will so me some good. MY sprockets are little worn but seem to be ok the chain she is a little stiff but i did just lube it and it still jumps like that but its only in 2nd gear

Um id say atleast 5-6 months ago when it was biult . i have never looked at the plug.all thing im gonna have to get done. not really somthing i mess with a whole lot im a 2 stroke fan but this is the wife's and if it gets tore up oh im in trouble. So as soon as it warms back up ill get out and try a few things to see if i can get it fixed. I thought maybe if the clutches were getting bad they would cause this problem what do you think. thanks

loss of power usually means valves need to be set, if the moter was done not that long ago and they have never been reset I would start there. If you hit the throttle hard in first or third does it do the same as in second gear . look at the teeth on the sprocket and see how big they are they should be at least 2/3rds up the link

they seem to be large enough. yea i can crack it open in first or third it does not do it, just 2nd so i assume that maybe i might have some damage inside. i will try a new chain and sprocket first. thanks alot for your info
