Eiger 400 problem
#1
My 06 eiger is having a problem. when I begin to move after coming to a sudden stop locking the brakes the bike make a loud sound that sounds like tires peeling out. I hit the gas and when I do the bike kinda shutters and then makes that sound. Any ideas as to what my be going on?

sounds kind of like mine. Is yours an auto? When I lock up the back brakes, for some reason the drive belt binds up and slips a little bit when I get on the gas. It sounds more like an alternator belt slipping on your car than tires peeling out on the dirt, though.

May be your brake's sticking , can you get it to roll by pushing it when you stop it suddenly ? Does your quad have a geared tranny or belt drive ? Try getting it up to 30 mph and lock the brake's to a sudden stop , then shut off the engine and make sure you're in newtral ; and then see if you can push the quad ! There's a reason i ask you to do this is because when you get a new quad there is a procedure called burnishing the brake's to break in the brake pad's to the rotor's ! If the brake's aren't burnished they will lock up very easy , in the manual the break-in procedure is to get your speed up to 30 mph then apply the brake's to slow the quad to about 5 mph ! Then you repeat this procedure 5 time's for proper break-in ! This is the only thing i can think of for now , try this out then we can go on from there ; maybe someone else will jump in with something else to add more thought's on this problem you're having ! This burnishing of the brake's is suppose to be part of the dealer's prep , but i bought a 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS auto with the Suzuki 376cc engine and duramatic belt driven clutch in feb. 2006 ; my dealer gave me a discount for doing the prep myself because she knew i was a small engine tech with over 20 yrs in the industry ! Ok i hope this get's the ball rolling , good luck to you and ride safe when you get it going ! williebee

Maybe your rear brake pedal is getting stuck down. I know mine does it quite often and requires lube about 4 times a year. Put your foot under the pedal and lift up next time to determine if they are getting stuck. Hope that helps.
