Default Mudlite XTR's

I just got a new King Quad 450 and I'm looking to upgrade the tires. My question is if I should go with the 26" or 27" models? I would love to go with the 27's to gain ground clearance but not sure if that is going to be to big of a tire for the 450. I'm sure I wouldn't have any problems with the 26's as most people out there are running them but that extra inch would sure be nice in the mud! I just don't want to run the risk of bogging the bike down too much or breaking/burning something up just from a tire too big for the machine. Thanks for any help you can give in advance.

My son used to have an Eiger 400 with the 26" Mudlites on it. That combination seemed to be a pretty good one. I put 27" Mudlite XTR's on my Popo Sporty 800 and it made a noticeable decrease in the top end of the machine. I would think it would be more pronounced on the 450. The 26" set up was great in the mud and that bike is lite enough where you don't sink down, especially running the bigger tires. Good luck in your decision.

Thanks for the advice, I was leaning towards the 26's. The 27" tires would give a height advantage but I don't think it would be worth the power loss. I'm goning to go with 26", they seem to be the most common and I'm sure there is a reason.

Yea your right go with the 26" tire
I too put the 27" xtr's on my 700 Grizzly and you can notice the power lose, not much but enough. Like Mud Hog said It would surley be more noticable on the 450. I had 26" Dirtdevils on my 450 Kodiak and they were Perfect size for the 450.
You got a nice quad there.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to go with the 26". Does anyone know where to get a good deal on a wheel/tire kit? I'm looking for the 26" XTR's on ITP C-series type 7 wheels if anyone knows of a deal somewhere. Thanks

Try "rockymountainatvmc.com". I've been running their tires on my '03 Prarie 650 since I bought it. And by the way, when you run bigger tires, you gain torque but lose top end.

I have had excellent luck finding my tires on ebay. A lot of the guys out there offer them with free shipping and include the lugnuts and the cap. The ones you are looking for are always available out there. Good luck.
