Default 250r break in

So I finally finished working out all the kinks in my 250r. Suzuki recommended that i run a 20:1 mix for the break in period. Well today I went riding with my group and ran through 3 plugs. I pulled them out and they were soaked in what seemed like oil (looked really rich). Cleaned it off and it would no longer fire on that one, so i threw a fresh one in there and it fired right up. I'm about to take out the rest of the gas that is in the tank and throw in some fresh 32:1 to see what happens. The motor is OEM and completely bone stock as well as the carb and jetting and am using B9EGV plugs gapped at .044 (pretty sure that's how it is but i know the gap is 44). What do you recommend for a fuel mix during the break in, or could there be something else wrong?

Make that .024 on the plug gapping.

My 2 cents.
I run 40 to 1 on a hot day, in every two stroke I have ever owned. Never blew one up; ever. All are still running. Some for more than 30 years. Some, like my leaf blower, run WOT for hours at a time until out of fuel. Then I refuel and run them again. None have ever been rebuilt.

If the clearences are correct, it will run forever on 40 to 1 on any oil. If they arn'nt, I don't care what oil or ratio you put in it, it will blow up. The most damage I have ever seen is from not warming up the engine. I see people all the time start the thing up and jack the throttle to the moon. This is the worst thing you can do to an engine. The piston will expand very quickly from combustion heat and the cylinder will still be cold. What will happen, it a cold seize.

I don't agree with over oiling an engine when new. I see too many 4 strokes that people over fuel when new and it will burnish the cylinders. When this happens the rings will never seat correctly.

IMHO, put 40 to 1 in it and go have fun.

See, I had 40:1 mixed and ready to go. They acted like if i put that in there it was going to be the end of all creation on earth. So I dumped that in my dirtbike and mixed the 20:1. Now I have all that sitting in a five gallon can that I don't know what to do with and a gallon 32:1 that i just mixed. I think i'm going to just run the 32:1 until that 1 gallon is gone then go with 40:1 like i ran in every other machine i owned. I'm using Yamalube 2S right now, but i always used to use golden spectro. Is there any known difference between the two?

I use Yamalube in my 2 strokes. Many years ago my company went to 4 stroke boat engines. They wanted to dump the oil so I took it. 2 1/2 gallons I think? I though it was a life time supply at the time. I'm almost at the end of it after many, many years.

I have used any two stroke oil I could get my hands on. Never had a problem in any two stroke. Just got it and mixed it to 40 to 1 and ran it. Maybe I'm lucky, or maybe all this oil talk is just that; talk. Like I said, I have run anything and everything for oil in my two strokes and never had any problmes so I don't worry about the oil I use in them anymore.

32 is not a bad mix IMHO. It's just I have never had any problems with 40 so why change? Cuts the cost a bit and keeps the plugs a little cleaner so why not?

I'm not saying you should run 40. Just what I do and never had a problem.

PS, on cool days I even go to 50 to 1 and never had a problem.

Also remember with an R if you are trail riding the plug for the R is way too cold. My RM100 would eat plugs every 2 hours until I emailed NGK and they recommended a 1 heat range hotter plug and after that I never had a foul again and also running 40:1 mix.

I used GS in my CR125 and never had a problem. I've only used Yamalube in my 250R since the complete overhaul of the motor.

The 32:1 mix ran good, and i didn't foul any plugs after about an hour after riding. I e-mailed NGK about the plug problem, they suggested that i go a step colder in plugs to an B8EGV. Any other thoughts on this?
